The element that represents money is metal. In  Feng Shui, the effect of  metal in the money corner is treasured. Metal is the symbol of organization and it holds its form well. In this ancient belief, many different symbols and elements are used to represent things such as money, protection, health, happiness and peace as well as many others.

Metal can be linked to both wealth and security. Security can be thought of in the form of weapons. It wards off evil.

Even though gold is the optimal metal, others can be used as well. Pewter is a close second to gold. Other metals include:

  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Brass
  • Sterling silver
  • Silver plate
  • Iron
  • White metal

If using metal when you decorate you should take care of sharp edges. In Feng shui theories, sharp corners should always be avoided. Instead look for rounded edges. Metal can have both positive and negative effects in a room. Gold and silver representation wealth and attract fans but can be an attraction to thieves.

Being associated with money, metal is the form frequently used in Chinese coins. They're rounded with a square cut in the center making them easy to tie three or more together. These sets are often found in cash drawers, appointment books and businesses put them with their records. Chinese coins are believed to particularly lucky at attracting wealth. 

There are, according to the Feng Shui principle, only five basic elements needed to change the energy in your home or office. They are wood, water, metal, earth and fire. Hanging metal wind chimes can provide the Feng Shui effect of metal in the money corner as well as the soothing sound of musical to soothe us. Place one outside on a porch or patio, near a window to let the sound make your environment more pleasant.
